About Shadowmiles

A few years ago, I was living in India. I wanted to bring my mom over from Nepal to visit me. But she had never traveled alone, wasn’t very confident, and the idea of airports and immigration completely overwhelmed her. Every time I thought about calling her here, I also had to worry about how she’d make the journey.

I remember thinking – what if there was someone already traveling from Nepal to India who could accompany her? Someone trustworthy, kind, and familiar with travel. Not just a service, but a human connection. That’s when the seed of Shadowmiles was planted.

But that wasn’t the only story.

My aunt had a sick uncle who needed special medication that was only available in India. Every few months, she would struggle to find someone to carry the medicine across the border. Couriers were slow, unreliable, and often expensive. So she’d always call me – “Can you bring this next time you come?” I’ve lost count of how many times I traveled with six months’ worth of medicines in my backpack, packed with care.

That’s when it hit me again – what if we could connect people who were already traveling with those who needed help sending something? Not through some big, impersonal courier, but through real people, with real purpose.
